A new beta web app was quietly launched last night. Quietly I say because it could very well be the calm before the storm. As I think and hope you agree, that this is the kind of fun app we love to have on retainer.
Now Twitter is beyond a social annoyance tool, the networking options both social and business alike are off the charts and toss in the potential friendships made with every new follower, and the benefits grow further! But, what happens when the magic number begins to drop? You see your follower count inching lower wondering what is happening? Were they just bots being cleaned out? Did they not like my content or do I simply smell? Well ladies and gentelmen, wonder no more!
Introducing who.unfollowed.me An app so simple in theory but brilliant in its conception. Web developer Collin Robinson, built just the thing all of us Twitter-holics love to know, who unfollowed us! The process could not be simpler. Visit the site and type in your Twitter username in the “obvious” space provided.
Be sure to heed the warning under the input bar, that if your tweets are private, you must approve the system to follow you or else you cannot be tracked! The system then does its magic and creates a benchmark for you are your current stats. Just like that you are in the system, no registration required. Oh, and did I mention it is currently free! During this beta phase, we can stalk ourselves at no cost, so get on it.
After you submit your name a friendly message lets you know that you are now known and can return at any later date to type in your name and view your new status. So of course I did and was sad to see two followers go away. But that is Twitter, and that’s how it rolls!
The streaming list is a nice touch, helps to quell that bit of sorry you, or maybe just I, tend to feel when a member of my entourage departs me. I can glance down and see that it indeed happens to everyone.
Another standout is the list of who leads the group of mass un-followers. A nice up to date list of the people currently dropping the most people from their streams. Is your face on there?
There is a planned release update yes, though a timeframe is unknown yet, (give him a break it’s brand new!) that will include some sweet features, and maybe even some rumored ones!
Rumored Updates
- Complete Automated Process
- Multiple Customization Options
- Notification System
- Call-Out Option – Publicly ask why they un-followed you
I will keep an ear open for more to keep this updated. The potential for this app is high I would say, because we all, even if we do not like to admit it, we love to see just who is kicking us to the curb. Please check out the app and let me know what you think! Leave comments or even suggestions below and go find your un-followers!
